First Day Details

The start date for Grant Career Center for Juniors' is August 14, 2024. Seniors' first day will be August 15th,

The building will not open until 7:30am. Students will report to the cafeteria until their first class period. Breakfast will be available if a student wants breakfast. First period starts at 7:45am. Release for students begins at 2:20pm each day.

We have new staff members that will join the Grant team this year. Stop in and meet them when you are at Grant.

  • Brittany Heist - Work Based Learning Coordinator

  • Lexi Lindsey - English Teacher

  • Jason Kreimer - CBI and Social Studies Teacher

  • Chris Wheeler - Construction Technology Aide

We have incorporated a visitor management system as part of our safety protocols. If you are visiting Grant and need to venture beyond the high school office you will need to provide your state driver's license so we can run it through our system. You will then have an id badge printed to wear during your time in the building.

We believe that immersive, hands-on projects and cooperative learning is as important to academic classes as the career tech programs. Each academic period is 90 minutes, so students have time to receive direct instruction, work in cooperative groups on projects and skills as well as time for individual work. Students will be scheduled in classes on an "A" (Tuesday and Thursday) day and "8 "(Wednesday and Friday) day. We are calling these academic classes, academic learning labs. Students will rotate through two academic learning labs per day as well as their program. Students will attend all of their academic classes on Monday's throughout the school year.

New Cell Phone Policy

We have an important update regarding our school's cell phone usage policy. This change is in accordance with a new state law signed by the Ohio Governor regarding cell phone usage in educational settings.

New Cell Phone Policy Overview:

1. In-Class Cell Phone Use: During class times, students will not be permitted to use their cell phones. Instead, they are required to place their phones in a designated class cell phone organizer provided by the school. These organizers will securely store cell phones until the end of the class period.

2. Cell Phone Use Outside of Class: Students can use their cell phones outside of designated class times, such as during breaks, lunch periods, and before/after school.

The decision to implement this policy aligns with the recent legislation enacted by the Ohio Governor. This law aims to minimize distractions and promote a focused learning environment in schools across the state. By restricting cell phone use during class times, we aim to enhance student engagement, reduce disruptions, and encourage face-to-face interactions among students.

We understand that adjusting to this new policy may require some adaptation. We encourage parents to discuss the importance of focused learning with their children and support them in adhering to these guidelines. Together, we can create a positive and conducive learning environment that benefits every student.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We value your feedback and are committed to working together to ensure the success of our students. Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We appreciate your cooperation as we implement these changes for the benefit of our school community

Drug Free Club

As a parent, you want the best for your child. One way to support their health, well-being, and future success is by encouraging them to join the Drug-Free Club at Grant Career Center. Here are several reasons why this club can be an excellent choice for your student:

  1. Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle: The Drug-Free Club is dedicated to helping students maintain a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. By joining, your child commits to making positive choices that protect their physical and mental health, which can lead to better academic performance and overall happiness.

  2. Incentives and Rewards: Throughout the year, club members receive various incentives as a reward for their commitment. These can include special events, exclusive privileges, and public recognition. These rewards provide positive reinforcement and can motivate your student to continue making healthy choices.

  3. Accountability through Random Testing: Students in the Drug-Free Club are randomly tested 3-4 times a year. This testing serves as a supportive measure to help them stay accountable to their commitment. It provides an additional layer of encouragement to resist peer pressure and stay focused on their personal goals.

  4. Developing Leadership and Responsibility: Participation in the Drug-Free Club helps students develop essential leadership skills and a sense of responsibility. By being role models for their peers, they can inspire others to make healthy choices and contribute to a positive school environment.

  5. Creating a Supportive Community: The club fosters a supportive network of like-minded students who are also committed to a drug-free lifestyle. This community can provide your child with encouragement, friendship, and a sense of belonging, which are crucial for their emotional and social development.

  6. Enhancing Future Opportunities: A commitment to staying drug-free is highly regarded by colleges and employers. Being a member of the Drug-Free Club demonstrates your child's dedication to making positive choices and their involvement in extracurricular activities that promote well-being.

By encouraging your student to join the Drug-Free Club at Grant Career Center, you are helping them build a strong foundation for a successful future. The benefits extend far beyond the immediate incentives, contributing to their overall growth and development in meaningful ways.
